About NewsPoint
An independent digital news portal for Singapore and APAC readers — built around explainers that get to the point without dumbing down the news.
Who we are
NewsPoint Media Pte. Ltd. operates a street-level newsroom at 5 Purvis Street, #02-01, in the Bugis district — a short walk from arts venues, civic institutions and the MRT lines that carry commuters who want a calm daily briefing before the day accelerates. We are a digital newsroom publishing news, analysis and plain-English explainers across Singapore news, Business, Technology, World, Politics and Culture.
The brand name is deliberate: point means the point of the story — clarity, context and fair attribution. We are not a loyalty-points programme, not a map pin service, and not a lifestyle-coaching site. The .life domain is branding only. NewsPoint is independent media producing its own journalism for readers across APAC.
What we publish
Our front page pairs a lead headline with an in brief box so subscribers and casual readers can grasp the stakes quickly. The latest feed groups dispatch items by section; the story page hosts a flagship explainer with bylines, datelines and structured subheads. We publish comment and op-ed pieces with clear labels, run fact-check notes when figures are disputed, and maintain a corrections log for material errors.
Breaking news appears when sources and documents support it — we do not race unverified claims to print. Investigation work is scoped honestly: what we can prove, what we are still verification-checking, and what we will not allege about named parties without evidence. That discipline is part of our editorial standards and our commitment to work in the public interest.
Editorial values
Accuracy, fairness, independence and transparent labelling guide every publish window. We separate news from analysis, mark sponsored or affiliate material prominently, and correct significant mistakes without delay. We welcome story tips and protect confidential sources where appropriate — a standard correspondents and editors discuss openly in morning conferences.
We support press freedom as a practical obligation: without it, coverage of current affairs becomes choreography. Our membership programme (from S$7/month) and advertising fund operations; neither buys favourable reporting or guaranteed publishing slots. Optional newsletter editions mirror the section layout for readers who want email delivery.
Independence statement
NewsPoint is an independent digital news publication. We aim to report accurately, fairly and independently; to distinguish clearly between news, analysis, opinion and any sponsored content; and to correct significant errors promptly. Opinion and comment reflect the authors' own views. Reporting reflects the information available at the time of publication and may be updated as a story develops. Nothing on this site is financial, legal, medical or investment advice. Advertising and any sponsored or affiliate content are labelled as such and do not influence our editorial decisions. Story tips are welcome; we protect the confidentiality of sources where appropriate.
Singapore context
Bugis and the Purvis Street belt sit between heritage shophouses and modern retail — a useful metaphor for our coverage of the region. Singapore is a hub for business, diplomacy and culture; our correspondents track how policy moves here ripple across ASEAN supply chains, climate finance and technology regulation. We write for residents and for APAC professionals who need trust and transparency from an independent outlet, not noise.
