Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about what NewsPoint is, how we work, and what we do not do.

Is NewsPoint a loyalty-points programme or a lifestyle brand — what does "NewsPoint" mean?

No. NewsPoint is an independent digital news portal — clear news and explainers for Singapore and APAC readers. "Point" means getting to the point of a story (clarity), NOT a loyalty-points or rewards programme, a map/location "point" service, or a point-of-sale product. The .life domain is branding only, NOT a lifestyle-coaching brand. We label news, analysis and opinion clearly and correct significant errors promptly. We are a newsroom publishing journalism, not a wellness or points scheme.

What topics do you cover and how often do you publish?

We cover Singapore news, Business, Technology, World, Politics and Culture with daily briefing updates on the front page and latest feed. Flagship explainers on the story page are refreshed as major topics develop. Analysis and comment pieces publish when editors judge them useful for readers — labelled throughout. Our digital newsroom operates Mon–Fri 07:00–19:00 SGT with extended monitoring for significant breaking news.

How do you verify stories and handle corrections?

Every headline should trace to identifiable sources, documents or on-the-record briefings. We use generic attribution where individuals request anonymity. Material errors are corrected on the article with a timestamp and, where significant, a note on the section index. Send correction requests via the contact form with the URL and quoted text. Our editorial standards require verification before naming organisations in negative contexts. Fact-check queries from subscribers are welcome.

What is the difference between news, analysis, opinion and sponsored content?

News reporting states documented facts with bylines and datelines. Analysis interprets trends with labelled judgement. Op-ed / comment reflects the author's view. Sponsored or affiliate content is marked at the top and never written by the news desk. Advertising does not influence coverage choices — a core independent media principle for trust and transparency in the public interest.

How is NewsPoint funded? Does funding influence coverage?

Revenue comes from display advertising and optional membership (from S$7/month). Subscribers receive an ad-light newsletter and early reader briefing editions. Paying for membership or ads does not buy articles, headlines or favourable reporting. We do not sell publishing slots. This funding model supports press freedom practices appropriate to a Singapore-based APAC outlet.

How do I send a story tip? Will you protect my identity?

Use the contact form and select "Story tip." Include what you know, how you know it, and whether you need confidentiality. We cannot promise anonymity in every legal circumstance but we take source protection seriously and train correspondents on secure handling. Walk-in document drops are by appointment at our Purvis Street office.

What about newsletter and membership?

Membership is optional, priced from S$7/month in SGD. It funds investigation time and dispatch capacity — not access to pay-for-play news. Cancel anytime by emailing [email protected]. Newsletter-only sign-ups may be added later; enquiry form subject "Newsletter / membership" reaches the right desk.

How do you handle personal data (PDPA)?

We comply with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012. Form data is used to respond to enquiries; analytics and advertising cookies require consent via our banner. See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Contact [email protected] for access or correction requests.

What does NewsPoint NOT do?

We do not publish paid-for news articles, clickbait rumour, misinformation, crypto or betting tips dressed as journalism, or financial/medical/legal advice. We are not a PR wire, marketing agency, loyalty-points programme, or map service. We do not impersonate other outlets. Feature stories use invented staff bylines for this demo newsroom — not real celebrity or politician subjects without public-domain context.

Do you host reader comments?

We do not operate a public comment forum at launch. Feedback and tips go through contact channels so editors can route them to the correct section. If comment tools are added later, community guidelines will prohibit harassment, hate speech and unsubstantiated allegations about named individuals.
